We are looking for a qualified IT Systems Administrator: Servers and Security. Responsibilities include activities relating to the continued, risk averse operation of back office IT infrastructure running within the company’s private cloud, hosted infrastructure, or deployed to regional business centers, with a key focus of optimizing availability and minimizing business interruption, as well as technical involvement in IT solution planning and implementation, liaison with suppliers and contract management. Provides both users and systems development staff with advice and guidance. A significant amount of work must and will be performed outside of general business hours to ensure uptime and availability of critical operational and financial systems at specified and critical times. Minimum Requirements
• 4-year Degree / NQF level 7 (beneficial) Microsoft Certification and other relevant vendor certificates for applicable technologies and systems (Required)
• Experience 5 years or more
Duties & Responsibilities
• Administer and manage applications or systems where responsibility is assigned in the responsibility matrix, which may include but is not limited to Active Directory, SharePoint, SQL Server, VMWare, Veeam, Redstor and other applications and systems and hardware on which they run.
• Proactively monitor, update, maintain and optimize applications or systems where responsibility is assigned in the responsibility matrix, which may include but is not limited to Active Directory, SharePoint, SQL Server, VMWare, Veeam, Redstor and other applications and systems and hardware on which they run.
• Identify, diagnose and resolve faults with applications or systems where responsibility is assigned in the responsibility matrix, which may include but is not limited to Active Directory, SharePoint, SQL Server, VMWare, Veeam, Redstor and other applications and systems and hardware on which they run.
• Design, Implement, Execute, Optimize and Test Backup, and Disaster recovery procedures for back office IT systems within the company’s private cloud and business centers.
• Design and Implement, with the assistance of service providers where appropriate, Firewall policies for secure network operations.
• Design, Implement and Maintain Endpoint Security policies and procedures to ensure appropriate network coverage, definition update distribution, malware mitigation and other applicable risks such as data loss, encryption, licensing and reporting, for client and server machines, with assistance of technicians.
• Design Implement and Maintain appropriate procedures for optimized Software Update Distribution and Deployment using the technologies available to the company, as released by OEMs with appropriate urgency demanded by the risk or within agreed upon maintenance windows to mitigate associated risks.
• Design and implement strategies for, and deploy operating systems and applications in line with best practice and security objectives within agreed upon timeframes.
• Assist with ordering and deployment of or oversee installation and deployment, configuration, documentation and implementation of IT equipment and/or infrastructure systems as needed.
• Diagnose hardware faults for in and out of warranty infrastructure equipment and manage the warranty replacement process or order parts and maintain appropriate stock, and effect repairs of hardware faults.
• Monitor and or resolve and close escalated system problems.
• Assist with and investigate user problems, reporting needs, system problems, and other user or company needs, resolve, provide support and assistance, analyze, propose solutions pertaining to all infrastructure systems and/or challenges.
• Maintain professional, clean and orderly data center environments.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly checks on systems, and provide monthly reports with statistics such as capacity planning metrics, recovery point deviations, availability and uptime, and coverage of critical agents such as endpoint security or other similar agents.
• Analyze, scope, plan and manage the replacement of relevant hardware or upgrades of relevant software.
• Administer, manage, maintain, audit and control software and hardware inventory assets for private cloud and business center servers
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to information being stored, processed, or accessed.
• Write and maintain system documentation and manage change appropriately.
• Adhere to Company and IT Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure compliance with license and other service agreements.
• Analyze, scope, plan and manage hardware and software license life cycles.
• Provide guidance on budgetary requirements for current and future financial cycles.
